Great product
I bought the DISC with some skepticism. I couldn’t believe it would work. Especially with the auto-dumping, I couldn’t imagine it only happening in the "toilet position." But that’s exactly how it is. Even during sports (jogging, Pilates) completely leak-proof!

How do I remove the DISC?
Step 1
To empty the DISC during the day, release the front rim from the pubic bone with your forefinger, pull the DISC slightly out of your vagina, and let it drain without removing it completely.
Step 2
Remove the DISC completely every 12 hours by pulling it out at the double rim with your forefinger. Empty it and rinse briefly with water.
What our customers say

-
Size S-M
- For light to medium flow
- Holds up to 4 regular tampons
- For low cervix
- Also suitable for teenagers
- Width: 65 mm, depth: 33 mm (approx. 50 ml)
-
Size M-L
- For light to heavy flow

- For high cervix
- Width: 70 mm, depth: 37 mm (approx. 60 ml)
When the DISC is your first choice
For heavy flow
Do you know what it’s like to leak and feel like you have to change your tampons every hour on the first day of your period? Then the menstrual DISC is perfect for you. It can hold up to 6 tampons, even more than traditional cups. No more sleepless nights or surprises in the morning.
For abdominal cramps
Many women report that regular tampons worsen their abdominal pain during their period. Tampons and traditional cups often feel hard and uncomfortable, and the vagina can tense up even more. With the menstrual DISC, it’s different: it is soft, easily shaped, stays in place without suction, and adapts perfectly to your vagina.
For vaginal dryness
Regular tampons not only absorb blood but also natural moisture, which can dry out your vagina. The menstrual DISC, on the other hand, is made of 100% medical-grade silicone, is hypoallergenic, does not absorb fluids, and keeps your vaginal flora balanced.
On lighter days
Removing a still half-dry tampon is not a pleasant feeling. When your flow gets lighter towards the end of your period, the menstrual DISC is the best choice to avoid drying out your vagina.
With an IUD
Since the menstrual DISC has no vacuum, it can also be used with an IUD.
During sports & swimming
Regular tampons can sometimes be uncomfortable during sports or swimming. With movement, your tampon can shift, and the string is often too long. Tampons can also absorb water while swimming, which compromises their seal. The menstrual DISC, on the other hand, fits so well that you completely forget you’re wearing it. It stays completely leak-proof even during intense activity and in water.
During s3x
Sex during your period is now possible with the DISC. The menstrual DISC is so flexible that neither you nor your partner will feel it. It sits comfortably in the vaginal vault, the widest part of your vagina, even during penetration. So you don’t have to worry about blood stains on fresh sheets.
For women with pain
Women with pain (e.g., endometriosis) often cannot use regular tampons or cups with suction due to severe pain. The flexible menstrual DISC provides relief and offers greater comfort.
For cup intolerance
Does the suction of regular menstrual cups bother you? Does it possibly increase your period pain? Or do you find removal difficult? Then the menstrual DISC is your solution! It works completely without suction, stays leak-proof for up to 12 hours, and is so soft that you never feel it. With a little practice, emptying and removing it is also much easier than with a cup that uses suction.
On a tight budget
On average, a woman spends EUR 200–300 per year on disposable menstrual products like tampons and pads. A menstrual DISC, on the other hand, is a one-time purchase and lasts up to five years. Over this time, you save more than CHF 1000, produce no waste, and never have to think about your tampon supply again.
How does automatic emptying (so-called auto-dumping, self-emptying) work?
-
For some women, the DISC empties by itself on the toilet. An amazing special feature of the menstrual DISC!
This happens because the pelvic floor muscles you use when going to the toilet also press on the rim of the DISC, causing it to empty.
-
For some, it may happen automatically, while others might need to consciously push or engage their pelvic floor muscles.
But don’t worry, the menstrual DISC will not suddenly empty on its own while you’re doing yoga, swimming, or squatting. This only happens in the toilet position with a engaged pelvic floor.
FAQ
Why is the DISC better than a cup?
No suction, no pressure, more comfort, and even wearable during sex. The DISC is the more modern, comfortable solution.
Which size is right for me?
Decide mainly based on your menstrual flow: if you have a light to medium flow, the small size S-M is sufficient (holds up to 4 tampons). If you have a heavier flow on the first two days, we recommend the larger DISC M-L (holds up to 6 tampons). For the large DISC, check first if you can insert your forefinger all the way to the cervix. If yes, the large DISC has enough space. If your uterus is positioned lower, we recommend the small DISC.
Which size should I choose after a vaginal birth?
With the DISC, unlike a menstrual cup, you don’t necessarily have to switch to the larger size after a vaginal birth. Again, focus mainly on your menstrual flow. Often the uterus drops slightly after birth. If this is the case for you and you cannot insert your forefinger all the way to the cervix, we recommend the smaller DISC S-M.
Can I use the DISC with an IUD?
Yes, because the DISC works without vacuum or suction, you can also use it with an IUD.
Can the DISC leak?
No, the leak-proof double rim holds securely – even with heavy flow or during sports.
How long can I use the menstrual DISC?
You can wear the DISC for up to 12 hours. Every 12 hours, you should remove it completely, empty it, and rinse it briefly with water. In between, you can also empty the DISC on the toilet without removing it entirely.
For hygiene reasons, you should replace your DISC approximately every five years. You should replace it sooner if it has any cracks, holes, or is generally in poor condition.
How do I empty the DISC?
When you go to the toilet, you can empty the menstrual DISC in between. You don’t need to remove it completely: hook your forefinger on the front rim (from above works best) and pull the DISC slightly out of your vagina so it can drain. It helps to alternately contract and relax your pelvic floor muscles to fully empty the DISC. Don’t forget to push the double rim back up behind the pubic bone afterward.
Every 12 hours, you should remove the DISC completely, empty it into the toilet, and rinse it briefly with water at the sink. Alternatively, this works best in a squat position in the shower.
If the DISC has slipped a bit deeper into your vagina, for example after sex, you can go into a wide-legged squat and relax to remove it more easily. The menstrual DISC cannot get lost inside your vagina, so you will always be able to get it out. If you ever cannot remove it yourself, please consult your gynecologist.
How do I remove the DISC after sex?
Exactly the same as always! Normally, you can remove and empty the DISC just like usual. If you can’t reach the rim of the DISC right away, don’t panic. It can’t get lost, and you will definitely be able to remove it. Be patient — the DISC will naturally move lower over time as it fills. Squat down in the shower, which shortens the vaginal canal, and gently push. This will make it easier to reach and pull out the front rim of the DISC.
Is inserting it really that easy?
Yes – with a little practice, the DISC fits perfectly. The included guide shows you exactly how it works. After 1–2 cycles, it all becomes routine.
What should I do if it doesn’t work right away?
Your DISC isn’t completely leak-proof during the first cycle? Don’t worry, it’s totally normal that it takes a bit of practice until the DISC fits perfectly. I experienced the same thing myself. Here are a few tips to help you get a proper seal soon:
- Sometimes the DISC sits a bit too low and doesn’t fully cover the cervix, or there’s too much pressure on the pubic bone. Especially if you’ve used cups before, it’s easy to insert the DISC not far enough. When inserting, make sure to push it all the way back and up toward your tailbone until it doesn’t go any further. Trying different angles can also help to get the back rim past the cervix.
- It’s easiest at first if you squat in the shower or bathtub. This shortens the vaginal canal and makes it easier to push the DISC back so that the back rim sits behind the cervix. You should then be able to feel your cervix through the thin silicone layer of the DISC.
- After that, it’s important to push the front rim up behind your pubic bone. You can find your pubic bone by inserting a finger and pressing upward toward your belly – you’ll feel a hard bone, that’s it.
- Alternatively, you could try the smaller DISC if you’re currently using size M-L. The larger size might not have quite enough space for you, which can cause the DISC to slip off the pubic bone.
You can also check out our Instagram Reels with tips and tricks about the DISC, for example how to insert it:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cy3zsQ_qGxQ/
With a few more tries, it should work soon. Be patient and good luck!
Why doesn’t automatic emptying (so-called auto-dumping or self-emptying) work for me?
You might be one of the women whose DISC fits very snugly between the pubic bone and the cervix, making automatic emptying impossible.
No problem — you can still easily empty the DISC without removing it completely: simply release the front rim from the pubic bone with your finger (from above works best) and pull it out just a little.
How do I clean the menstrual DISC?
Empty the DISC and rinse it under warm water. You can also use a little hand soap to wash off any blood residue.
At the end of your period, boil the DISC for 5 minutes. The easiest way is to place it in a cup, pour boiling water over it, and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
I like to use an old toothbrush to thoroughly clean the double rim of the DISC before boiling it.
What is the DISC made of?
The menstrual DISC is hypoallergenic and made from 100% medical-grade platinum silicone from Germany. It’s free from BPA, plasticizers, phthalates, and other chemicals, and is ISO-certified as a medical product. This means it doesn’t negatively affect your vaginal flora or pH balance.
Where is the menstrual DISC produced?
Our menstrual DISC is made from 100% medical-grade silicone from Germany and produced by our partner in China. For two years, we were in contact with various manufacturers both within and outside of Europe, testing different DISC models and materials. We found by far the best DISC quality (as thin as possible) with our current production partner in China. For the material, we chose a German silicone manufacturer known for the highest medical quality. This allows us to combine the best material with the best manufacturing process. We package the DISC in our own workshop and design all packaging ourselves.
Ideally, we would love to produce everything in Switzerland. However, at the moment, production costs are still so high that we would have to offer the DISC at a significantly higher price. With PERIOD, our goal is to make innovative menstrual products accessible to as many women as possible, which is why production costs play a key role.
How should I store the menstrual DISC?
Store the DISC in its original packaging or another pouch once it’s completely dry, in a place protected from light and out of reach of children.
Is it hygienic?
Absolutely. The DISC is made from 100% medical-grade silicone, can be boiled, and stays hygienically clean for years.
What are the advantages compared to a menstrual cup?
Unlike a cup, the menstrual DISC works without suction, which makes wearing and emptying it easier. It can also help reduce period pain.
The DISC in size M-L also has a larger capacity than most cups, making it the perfect solution for women with a heavy flow.
With a bit of practice, the menstrual DISC can even empty automatically on the toilet. And even without “auto-dumping,” emptying it is easier than with a cup that relies on suction, since the DISC doesn’t need to be removed completely each time.
Does the DISC have a contraceptive effect?
No, the menstrual DISC does not have a contraceptive effect and does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases.
What is TSS?
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a very rare but serious and potentially life-threatening condition that can occur when using tampons or other period products. Symptoms can appear suddenly and are similar to those of the flu: fever of 39°C or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, and/or a sunburn-like rash. If you notice any of these symptoms, remove your menstrual DISC immediately and contact a doctor. Be sure to mention that you are on your period and that you have been using a menstrual DISC. TSS can be life-threatening and must therefore be recognized and treated early.
Alles top
